The film STAND BY ME is about four 12-year-old boys, Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton), Chris Cambers (River Phoenix), Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman), and Vern Tessio (Jerry O’Connell). The movie takes place in the summer of 1959 in Castle Rock, in a forest and mostly on the railroad tracks.
Vern gets the information that a dead body was found by his brother, who didn’t tell the police about it. Because of their wish to become famous they decide to search for the body. And the adventure begins.
On their way, they have to master many difficult situations and have to trust each other. Can they find the body together? And will they become famous?
The mood of the film is mostly funny and exciting. Sometimes old music is played. The movie is an adventure film. It is directed by Rob Reiner.
Our opinion about the film is that it’s a bit too old and too short. However, we like the way Corey Feldman and Jerry O’Connell act – they do a really good job. All in all, the movie is really good.

Four boys at the age of twelve want to find the dead body of Ray Brower who suddenly disappeared near the railroad tracks in the forest. Gordie (Wil Wheaton), Chris (River Phoenix), Teddy (Corey Feldman), and Vern (Jerry O’Connell) live in a small American village called Castle Rock in the year of 1959. Everyone knew Ray Brower therefore the four close friends would become famous by finding his dead body. But they aren’t the only ones in search of him. Can they find him? A big adventure begins …
This movie is a typical adventure movie for children over the age of twelve. The film has got many interesting features like its music (by Jack Nitzsche), its visual effects, and its many flashbacks. It is based on the book "The Body“ written by Stephen King. All scenes are well acted. STAND BY ME is a very exciting and serious story which shows the real life in 1959 and how beautiful and important friendship can be.

This movie is a typical adventure movie that is set in the small American village Castle Rock. The story is told from the point of view of an adult. He retells his past. Vern (Jerry O’Connell) tells his three best friends Gordie (Wil Wheaton), Chris (River Phoenix), and Teddy (Corey Feldman) that his brother found the dead body of Ray Brower, a boy killed by a train. Now they want to find him in order to become heroes. On their way through the countryside they have many dangerous adventures. Will they find the dead body?
What is so special about this movie is that there are many flashbacks. Furthermore, the film has got many award nominations. The movie is very good because it is interesting and funny to see how the people lived in the USA in 1959. The actors play their characters very well, so you can understand their feelings in the different sequences. The music of the film (by Jack Nitzsche) also expresses the feelings of the characters very well. However, in many sequences the language is very bad so young children shouldn’t watch the film. All in all, the film is very good. (running time: 89 minutes)
